On this lovely Saturday in Rural Minnesota my mother and I are busy getting ready for a yard sale. I am getting rid of clutter and working on cleansing the junk out of my life. I have to admit I am a bit of a pack rat, always have been. I went through my closet and if I haven’t worn an item for the past year then it is up for sale. We worked all night and took a break at about 9am this morning.
We ended up taking a mini road trip to Minneota, Mn which is a small town near my hometown with the cutest boutique that is connected to an Ace hardware Store.
This place is a jem. They have clothes, vintage treasures and hardware. Seriously everything I love! We found lots of goodies that were up to 75% off but the part that I found the most fascinating is this store has a fully restored beautiful antique cash register sitting on the front counter.
I spoke with the gentleman, Dave of Minneota, who did the restoration of the beautiful piece.
He informed me he took the entire machine apart, researched about it, and then put it fully back together. He told me that the soul purpose of the cash register back in the day was to prevent employee theft! The “dinging” noise that happens when the till opens is to notify the manager someone is in the till. It was very fascinating talking with Dave about his treasure.
